From the very first time I played at Mesa it always reminded me of the large meteor crater in the Arizona desert called The Barringer Meteorite Crater. This is a 1:1 scale map although the final shape is not quite right it a good representation I think :)
There are three VTOL's parked at each base, but use them wisely as they do not respawn. The intention is to get all your team mates into the fight area as soon as possible. So grab a chute and climb aboard.
I'm hoping to convert this map to Warhead once we get an updated SB2!

3. The transport VTOLs are now a one shot deal. The original idea was to provide transport for everyone spawning at the game start. I was hoping to have these vtols unarmed but I can't seem to find a way to do it in MP. So teamwork is the key :) All grab a chute and get taken into the play area.
